Nursing at the City Simply the Best
The Nursing Services Department is committed to valuing nursing and advancing Rehabilitation Nursing Practice. Many programs are being planned and several initiatives have been implemented to make these two commitments a beginning reality.
To promote the concept of Nursing Valuing, the Nursing Services are introducing Nursing Excellence Awards in conjunction with International Nurses' Day celebrations, establishing a Nursing Expertise Data Base, and forming a Nursing Valuing Work Group with representatives from all the Nursing Services areas/units. Initiatives to advance Rehabilitation Nursing include activities such as a Rehabilitation Nursing Professional Development, the introduction of the Clinical Resource Nurse role, exploration of the essence of care model, and the establishment of an Advancing Nursing Practice Work Group with representatives from all nursing areas.
Inpatient Nursing Services is committed to the mission and vision of Nursing Services Department. With a nursing staff of over 300, we have a well-qualified and enthusiastic group that is actively involved in the planning and implementation of many initiatives and programs. Improving the work environment in order to enhance retention of staff and implementing a well-organized recruitment plan are paramount workings of our efforts.
Through reflective practice, the inpatient nursing services team has moved forward to improve the quality of care for patients and families. As well, the quality of nursing work life is paramount to our success. In all efforts, our patients and their families are our focus. Our commitment to education, practice, leadership, and research is evident throughout all areas of the hospital, and thereby enhancing the care we provide.
