On 28th January at a Gala dinner held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai during Arab Health 2009. Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City was awarded the Hospital Training/Education Initiative Award.

With eight categories the awards seeks to highlight and reward healthcare facilities, organizations and individuals that have made the most positive contribution to Middle East healthcare. This year there were more the 250 entries/nominations for the awards. With seven hundred top healthcare industry executives and experts present, Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City was adjudged to have been the hospital that made the most significant improvements in in-house training/ education. Mr. Abdullah Bin Zarah (Executive Director for Clinical Affairs) and Ms. Abeer Al-Fouti (Director of Education and Staff Development) were present to collect the award on behalf of Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City. The winners were judged by a panel of industry experts and included:

  • The Managing Director of Joint Commission International, Middle East Office.

  •  The Chief Executive of the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards

  • A PricewaterhouseCoopers partner in Healthcare Advisory Services.

  • The Founder and President of a nonprofit health services research organization (Emeritus ECRI).

Along with its recent accreditation by the Joint Commision International, this Award continues to show the dedication of Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City to provide it patients the quality healthcare that they deserve. The award specifically recognizes the importance that Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City has placed on continued education and development of staff skills; to ensure that it remains able to provide the latest treatments and be able to deliver the best healthcare possible.
